Only the lonely...

dum dum dum, dum de de dum... yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, only the lonely know the way I feel tonight. So sang Roy.

Apparently according to Richard Beddard over at iii's blog and an exhaustive google and blogger search, I'm the only financial blogger in the UK. Well, the only one who doesn't work in the financial industry and therefore paid to produce a blog. Sad but true. And I'm not even from the UK, just domiciled here initially as a tourist, then an economic migrant, and now I stay just to hang out with my boy.

So there's a wee challenge to the rest of you. Get blogging. I see loads of discussions on the iii boards everyday. Admittedly loads of them are slagging each other off, but still I'm sure that there are a tonne of people out there with great investment ideas. There's a heap of Americans doing it, but so much of their stuff is irrelevant to this market. I'm sure we can get a small group of us talking about how to make some money in the UK and share tips and expertise.

I wonder why no-one else is prepared to talk about investing? Seems money still is still a bit of a taboo subject. Strange, as people are quite prepared to tell you all about how much their house sells for these days. When the crash comes, I wonder if they'll be talking real estate then? Not that I really believe there's a crash coming - just an inevitable slow down of price increases to reflect a more equitable earnings to price ratio. Besides a proper crash would require big style interest rate increases and that is just mega unlikely these days. I remember having money in a term deposit account in NZ during the 80's at 22%! Now that is big interest.
